I was recently sent a generous box of goodies to try out from FRS which included a sampling of various products from their line. I’d never actually tested anything out of the product lineup, so I was pretty excited when it showed up on my doorstep.

What is FRS and quercetin?

FRS® is a full line of products based on clinical science — not marketing hype. (And they taste great, too!)

FRS was originally developed by health scientists to provide sustained energy for chemotherapy patients. Today it is used by elite athletes, wellness experts and anyone who wants to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.

All FRS products feature quercetin, a powerful all-natural antioxidant found naturally in many fruits and vegetables. It has been shown in multiple clinical trials to provide sustained energy, increased endurance, immune system support along with many other health benefits.

I thought the bit about being created for chemo patients was pretty neat! Ya learn something new everyday.

The FRS lineup of products is broken down into 4 componets: Healthy Energy®, Healthy Slim™, Healthy Protein™, and Healthy Defense™.

Healthy Energy®

From the Healthy Energy® line I tested 2 of the bottles in the flavors Cherry Limeade and Wild Berry.

The important thing I learned about the bottle products is to make sure you give these a really good shake! There’s a notice on the bottle that explains that the quercetin has a tendacny to settle. It’s also what gives these products their yellow appearance. Between the energy bottles, the Cherry Limeade wins my vote as the best tasting between the two. While the taste was awesome this probably isn’t personally something I’d drink all the time, the label of 20g of sugar per bottle scares me off a bit. I don’t like ingesting that much sugar through a drink. The great news is though that they have a low cal version in a Peach Mango flavor, and I’d love to give that one a try!

Generally the nutritional stats between the different flavors of all the products are almost identical if not identical so it comes down to your taste preference. All of the nutrional stats are available for their products on the website.

I also received the Healthy Energy® hard chews and soft chews. Between the two, I prefer the soft chews purely for the softer texture. I had the Pomegrante Blueberry flavor. Was it tasty? Not really – but it wasn’t terrible either. It was pretty much how I expected it to to be, a very vitamin like taste – but I’m ok with that. I wasn’t expecting them to taste like candy. Both the hard and soft chews come in a variety of flavors. These are things I would definitely like more of. I really want to try the Lemon Lime soft chews next! Overall the chews were my second favorite product.

As far as energy goes, I did feel like this gave me a little pep in my step so to speak. These would be great to throw in a bag (or purse ladies!) because they require no water for mixing, and take up virtually no room.

The Energy product line also includes a powder form delievered in small packets that you mix with water. I got to try to the orange flavor and they are awesome! These are by far my favorite product. They basically have a tang type taste to them. My husband is really loving them as well. These appeal to me because of the 0g of sugar, they’re easy, and they taste great.

Healthy Slim™

I tested both of the flavors available in the Healthy Slim™ line. There is a Strawberry Melon and a Tropical flavor, the Tropical was my favorite. They were both very good though!

I’d never heard of Slendesta® before this, you can read more about it here on their website. I didn’t particularly notice any reduction of hunger, but I did only have two bottles and I kept forgetting to drink it according to the suggested certain amount of time before a meal.

Healthy Protein®

There are two versions of the protein drink. A Blackberry Acai and a Orange Cream. Both were surprisingly tasty but I loved the Blackberry Acai flavor. Yum. I really don’t drink premixed protein – maybe because I workout at home and it’s easy for me to saunter into the kitchen and mix my own after a workout. But I can see how it’s a convenience for gym goers. I think it’s also nice that these are yummy fruit flavors that are not your usually chocolate or vanilla that most premixed proteins you see are. Also they pack a 25g punch of protein per bottle. I was thinking of even making overnight oats using some of this protein if I purchase these premixed ones myself. That could be some yummy protein oats!

Thoughts overall

FRS makes some darn good products and I’m rather impressed! There was nothing I’d consider “gross” tasting although I had my preferences obviously. I will say that I have had major side effects to “energy” based products in the past. They make me sick to my stomach and I can’t handle a lot of them. I had no adverse or icky stomach issues with any of the products I tested. I think a lot of that has to do with FRS’s use of green tea for a natural caffeine source. I will for sure consider adding the chews and and the powder packets to my arsenal permanently.
