Move More Eat Well January

This whole balancing act I’m trying to work on is the reason I decided I’d share some of my Move More, Eat Well 2.0 scrapbooking pages as I move along through this class. I really respect Cathy Zielske as a designer and it was interesting to hear her own story. I know I’ve said this may seem like an odd choice for a class to me to partake in considering how far I’ve come but my focus with this class is going to be more so about letting go a little.

At the start of the class we were asked to write up a statement of intention

Statement Of Intention

Is this where I say about how much I’ve fallen off the bandwagon? About how much weight I’ve gained, about how unactive I’ve been? Because none of those apply to my life currently. Instead I have lost a person – somewhere around 135 pounds.

This class appealed to me because this is still a process for me. This is a change I have made for a lifetime. I aim to continue on my path to great health and fitness. I aim to try to reach those who feel like they can’t. I aim to try to remind myself that sometimes I need to let go. I need to realign and find balance.

There will always be someone more fit than me, someone faster, someone who can do more reps. Whatever. I am here to challenge and improve where I can personally. I am here to find that balance and set goals. I am here to try to let go a little! Yes, even letting go of the “design” aspect of this class a little. This is about content not a million embellishments on a page. I know there are days I need to let myself rest a little – to not be so hard on myself. And for me personally, this is the challenge. Here’s to what 2013 has in store for me!

We were also asked to input our January measurements: height, weight, etc.

The Numbers

Definitely leaving the numbers blank here for a specific reason. Again, I’m striving for balance. I have come so far. I am healthier and these numbers don’t mean as much to me at the moment.

There was a prompt to include your story.

The Story

I just copied and pasted my story from my blog here. Whatcha gonna do – I didn’t feel like I needed to retell my story, it’s been told, I’m moving forward.

Monthly there will be an included journal prompt or challenge. For January – “This month, the one thing I will focus on either changing, adapting, or adding to my routine is:”

My One Thing

My one thing for January will be spending more time stretching and getting more yoga workouts in. I have this really bad habit of thinking I didn’t work as hard in a workout if I didn’t sweat majorly. Working on yoga helps my strength, improves my flexibility – and I’m finding it increasingly more important as I’m becoming more effective at weight training. These are workouts! And workouts that are beneficial for me!

So how did I do this month?

I hit a few road bumps but I didn’t expect this process would be smooth sailing. That’s why it’s called a process isn’t it?! I have been doing more yoga + stretching and really enjoying it. Mainly I’ve been adding Stretch 40 workout at lest once a week in addition to other shorter streches/yoga workouts. (Stretch 40 is a TurboFire workout). Guess what, just in this past month I have seen a noticeable difference in my flexibility – and I think that’s pretty impressive.

OMG, stretching and Yoga. I need to, as well. I’m not nearly as limber as I was last year. This must change.

I think it is great that you figured out a way to join this challenge. I agree, it is an everyday process. This isn’t something you start and finish and then go back to the way you were. It doesn’t work that way. It took me 3 years to come to this realization. Thanks for sharing your story, Amanda!

Thanks for sharing! You’re definitely one of my top inspirations so it’s nice to see more of your thought process. I think a lot of this health/fitness thing is the thought process. And then that translates into action.
I can’t wait until I can get to the point where the numbers mean very little to me. I’m looking forward to inches lost and some pounds too. But really all I really want is to be able to survive a zombie hoard should the Zombiepocalypse ever occur. If it were to happen now, I’d be zombie food on day 1.

Wow thanks Ashleigh, thats super kind! Oh it definitely is – I think people tend to defeat themselves by thinking “they can’t” OR “I’m tired”, “I don’t have the time”. We can set ourselves up to fail before we ever even get started!

I never thought I’d get to the point where the numbers aren’t so important, so dang it can be done!! And surviving a Zombie Apocalypse? Like super important. ;)
