Nursing Some Injuries + P90x

I’ll start off by saying the injuries and the P90x are actually unrelated – but I have been absent from blogging for a few days! My hand has really been hurting the last few weeks and I’ve been having to take more breaks from typing and clicking away working than I normally do.

It was so bad at the end of last week and I was in so much pain when I woke up one day, that I went to the doctor. I found out I have carpal tunnel (which was actually no surprise, it’s something I’ve suspected for awhile). The downside of having a designing job – on the job injury if you will. I was prescribed some meds, they took some blood to check for other things, and yay (sarcasm) I get a pretty brace. Damn this thing is hard to do anything with, and my fingers have been especially painful, bruised looking and all. So yes, the hand is injured – and I’m still dealing with some knee issues that are keeping me from doing a lot of my TurboFire workouts. Whaaaaa.

My kids had a visit with my dad this weekend and they had a good time at the circus. My daughter tells me she liked seeing the clowns – she obviously doesn’t get that joy from me, clowns still freak me out. I’m glad they had a good time. The husband and I went to see Warm Bodies. It was a fun movie – nothing like a zombie love story. We had some food, a surely needed margarita was ingested, and uh we went grocery shopping. Seriously, we are that exciting that we stopped by Kroger because they had the Quaker cereal that I really love for half off and I wanted to score some more. Living the wild life baby.

As of the 1st of February, I started adding P90x workouts to my routine. I’m liking them so far! I did chest, shoulders, and triceps the other day and the next day I could barely lift my arms over my head. Yeowch, that one put the hurt of me for sure. Glad to report though that I am again able to put my own shirt on without assistance. Hah! Tony Horton likes to talk doesn’t he?! It’s ok, I think I’m already used to him – and there’s an option to do it without the yacking – so if you know anyone that says they can’t do the workouts because he annoys them, go ahead and call them out as making an excuse would ya?! ;)

Ever done any P90x? Do you like weight training?

  1. Sorry to hear about your hand. At least, you had a margarita to drown your sorrows, :)

P90X is my fav of all the workouts I’ve ever done. In ads, I used to think Tony a bit annoying but on the DVDs I loved him – I don’t think I could do with WITHOUT him yakking on:) Oh, and by now, I know his jokes by heart, so I will often say them aloud with him and my 4 year old says some things with him too, lol.
I hope the carpal tunnel calms down with the brace!
Turbo Fire – too much hip flexors in there…seriously! I think this is one reason I like P90X so much. All the work is spread out over the course of the week and there isn’t that constant focus on one thing.

Yeah I’ve heard major complaints about him being annoying, but I was surprised, hes not THAT bad come on people.

Oh I love Turbo/Fire Jam, but I really dig the punching + kicking deal :)

  3. I finished a 90 day round of P90X on March 3rd, then went on to a hybrid routine I devised from my own preferences + the P90X/X2 schedules.

I actually use the book 90% of the time now. Saves me from having to hear Tony talk all the time. I love him, but once you’ve heard the jokes a million times… yeah. lol
