Paleo Schmaleo, Picking A Diet That Works For You
I get a lot of questions about what I eat, the amount I eat, what diet I follow, etc. Are you vegetarian? paleo? vegan? raw? gluten free? dairy free? Yes, it all gets rather confusing no? It makes my head spin thinking about it. Guess what?
I’m actually none of these.
Although many years ago I did go vegetarian for awhile – it was specifically for a bet. I won. But do I care to eliminate meat on a regular basis? Nope. I like meat. I have no moral issues with eating something with a face. I like my dairy. I eat ice cream, cheese, and dun dun dunnnnn. Bread. You know the kind that has wheat in it.
Do you remember when I spoke about my gluten free woes? Yep. I did the gluten free thing for a few months because I thought I might be gluten intolerant. I went a little over two months without gluten and found no positive impact on my symptoms. The funny thing was that I have actually found my digestive system is better with gluten in my diet.
Say what?! Yeah, I said it. So what. That’s what works for me. And here’s where I have beef. It’s really easy to get caught up with these different “diets” or better “lifestyle eating” fads or whats popular in the media at the time. Especially online when there are people (like me) who are constantly posting photos via various social media outlets of their food. Most importantly:
Find what works for you.
This is your body, and we are all different. Don’t feel pressured to eat paleo just because you’re an active crossfitter. Your lifestyle eating may be a blend of many things – do what fuels and nourishes your body in the best way possible. It’s going to be different for everyone.
Note: I want to iterate that I am not bagging anyones eating choices or diets. I’m just stating what works for me is a mix of my own deal. Everyone should find what’s right for them and do it! Be healthy friends!
